We recommend you try the signature Stravinskij Spritz.2/13The restaurant, Le Jardin de Russie, is on the upper tier of the courtyard garden overlooking the Stravinskij Bar. Lauded chef Fulvio Pierangelini's signature dishes include ravioli cacio e pepe and spaghetti al pomodoro.3/13We continued through the beautiful garden, which extends several levels and has paths leading to quiet spots with water features and Mediterranean flora.4/13The garden was recently restored to the original design by architect Giuseppe Valadier, who also designed the nearby Piazza del Popolo.5/13The garden theme continues inside the restaurant, which features hand-painted frescoes by...

A group of lanterns hover above, and light streams in through the skylight.3/12Just past the lobby area, the Birdcage Bar boasts 180-degree views from the seating along the rail. Cozy couch configurations fill the rest of the space. A live musician performs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday during sunset.4/12Bays offer paired seating with just enough space to feel private. To One Traveler, Smart Tech Is Ruining the Hotel Experience

At my boutique hotel high in the Swiss Alps, I returned from dinner, jet lagged and a tad tipsy, to discover that a television set inside a bathroom mirror had been turned on during turndown service. I pressed all of the buttons on the wall panel and then tried the switches on a control box next to the bed. Nothing.Since I could not locate anything resembling a telephone in the room (remember, I was tipsy), I hoofed it to the lobby and returned with a receptionist to power down my “smart mirror.” Twenty minutes later, already in my pajamas, I encountered a new challenge: No switch I turned, no knob I twisted would kill the bathroom lights. I closed the door, affixed a face mask over my eyes and made do.These days, it’s all about making do when I’m greeted by the glut of smart technology i...
