Zedwell opens third windowless hotel in London – Business Traveller

Zedwell Hotels has opened its latest property in the UK capital, located in Greenwich close to the River Thames.

The 96-room property is housed within the glass and steel Cavatina Point building on Harmony Place, but despite its above-ground location the hotel follows the brand’s existing Piccadilly and Tottenham Court Road properties in offering a windowless sleep concept.

Each “cocoon” can accommodate up to two guests, and are “intentionally free from TVs and extraneous distractions”, with features including Hypnos beds, Egyptian cotton sheets, rain showers and ambient, circadian rhythm-based lighting.

Zedwell also said that “by incorporating a gap between the glass facade and room walls, we not only enhance thermal stability, but also improve energy efficiency”.

The brand’s 728-room Piccadilly hotel opened in 2020, followed by what is described as “London’s first and only underground hotel”, housed with former subterranean car parking space below Great Russell Street and Tottenham Court Road station.

This week PPHE Hotel Group announced plans to develop a “predominantly subterranean” hotel on Vauxhall Bridge Road close to London Victoria station.

Commenting on the Greenwich opening Darija Zivni-Aziz, head of interior design for Criterion Hospitality, said:

“In staying true to our core brand values, we focus on delivering uninterrupted night’s sleep by eliminating external light and noise. Despite Zedwell Greenwich’s impressive all-glass exterior, its windowless rooms ensure superior insulation against external temperature variations.

“The tranquil image of clouds mirrored in the glass exteriors, coupled with the soothing presence of the nearby waters played a pivotal role in shaping the interiors of Zedwell Greenwich. We’ve intertwined the elements of air and water to foster a sense of balance between the body and mind, helping to sooth each guest who walks through our doors.”
