What the Supreme Court’s Decision Means for Abortion Pills

Updated Dec. 13, 2023 6:22 pm ET

The Supreme Court said on Dec. 13 that it would weigh whether to limit access to mifepristone, a pill used in most abortions in the U.S.

In April, the Biden administration and Danco Laboratories LLC, which sells the drug under the brand name Mifeprex, had appealed a ruling by the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that would have significantly affected the way mifepristone is used and dispensed for abortions. The Supreme Court blocked the lower court’s order while it decided whether or not to hear the case.
