Situated approximately 3 miles off the southwest shores of Maui, Molokini is a crescent-shaped atoll that formed from the remains of a volcanic eruption that occurred roughly 230,000 years ago. The calm waters around this protected area offer excellent visibility of up to 200 feet, as well as the ability to see approximately 250 species of endemic fish and marine life. Trips also feature a marine biology briefing about the aquatic environment and how to identify various fish species. Patrons rave about the guides and say they appreciate the small group experience and personal attention, especially for beginners.
