Virgin to increase flights to Dubai, the Maldives and Barbados for winter 2024 – Business Traveller

Virgin Atlantic has announced plans to boost its routes to Dubai, the Maldives and Barbados next winter. The carrier launched thrice weekly flights from Heathrow to the Maldives in October, and said it would increase this service to daily for the winter 2024-2025 season. Meanwhile Virgin’s route between Heathrow and Dubai – which resumed in October after a four-year hiatus – will also increase to daily next winter. Norse Atlantic puts 2024-25 winter flights to Caribbean on sale – Business Traveller

Norse Atlantic Airways has put flights on sale for its 2024-25 winter season, with routes from London to the Caribbean. The carrier will operate once weekly from London Gatwick to Bridgetown in Barbados, and will also serve Montego Bay in Jamaica once a week from December 2024 to March 2025. Return fares start from £449 to Barbados and £540 to Jamaica. Norse Atlantic launched the Caribbean routes earlier this year, but subsequently cancelled its planned service between Gatwick and Jamaica’s capital Kingston. The airline also announced that it will fly three times weekly from Oslo to Bangkok between November 2024 and March 2025, with one-way fares starting from NOK 3,869. Qatar Airways to increase flights to Bangkok and Amsterdam over peak winter period – Business Traveller

Qatar Airways has announced plans to increase frequencies on five routes to Europe, the US and Asia during December and January. As previously noted on our forum the carrier’s Doha-Amsterdam service will move from ten flights per week to twice daily from 16 December, while Belgrade will increase from seven to ten flights per week from 23 December, and Barcelona from 18 to 21 flights per week from 1 January, 2024. Thai Airways firms winter schedule – Business Traveller

Star Alliance founding member Thai Airways has finalised its schedule for the upcoming winter season to 30 March 2024. The Bangkok-based flag carrier will operate to 51 destinations, including double daily flights to London’s Heathrow, Frankfurt and Melbourne. Thai Airways long-haul routes with daily flights comprise Copenhagen; Stockholm; Munich; Istanbul (from 1 December); Paris; Zurich; and Sydney. The airline will deploy its Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on its services to Europe and Australia. Thai Airways currently operates just under 50 widebody aircraft, as well as 20 short-haul Airbus A320s. Philippine Airlines firms long-haul winter schedule – Business Traveller

Manila-based Filipino flag carrier group Philippine Airlines (PAL) has finalised its long-haul schedule for the period to 30 March. PAL will fly twice a day between Manila and Los Angeles this winter. Elsewhere in the US, the carrier will operate a daily service to San Francisco, and four times a week to New York’s Kennedy airport. Virgin Atlantic adds third weekly service to Grenada this winter – Business Traveller

Virgin Atlantic is to expand its Grenada route this winter, with a third weekly service operating between 8 December, 2023 and 29 March, 2024. A Friday service will join the carrier’s existing Tuesday and Sunday flights from Heathrow, with all three frequencies routing via Barbados. Earlier this year Virgin added fifth freedom services between Barbados and Grenada, allowing customers to fly between the islands.
