American Airlines to offer high-speed wifi on 500 regional aircraft – Business Traveller

American Airlines is set to install high-speed wifi on nearly 500 regional aircraft, with the rollout starting early next year. American Airlines already offers wifi on 900 mainline aircraft, but will extend the same high-speed connectivity to its regional aircraft over the next two years. The carrier is purchasing new technology from provider Intelsat, whose Electronically Steered Array (ESA) antenna will allow “regional aircraft to match fast wifi speeds that are currently available on American’s mainline aircraft”. Customers will be able to stream content, browse the internet, check their emails and log onto a VPN while inflight. Vistara has begun offering complimentary wifi internet connectivity onboard its international flights (operated on Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A321neo aircraft) for all members of its loyalty program, Club Vistara. This complimentary wifi service is available to all Club Vistara members, regardless of their membership tier, accumulated points, tenure of membership etc. This makes Vistara the first Indian airline to offer free unlimited wifi to its customers onboard. Malaysia Airlines expands free inflight wifi provision to all passengers – Business Traveller

Malaysia Airlines has introduced free inflight for all passengers on selected aircraft. The service will initially be available on 20 A350, A330-200 and A330-300 aircraft, before being rolled out to selected narrowbody planes in phases. All passengers on these aircraft will be able to connect to inflight wifi for free, regardless of cabin class or loyalty tier. The move follows the provision of free wifi on the above aircraft for Business Suite, business class and Enrich Platinum passengers earlier this year.
