Aer Lingus unveils new business class menu and grows IFE library – Business Traveller

Aer Lingus has launched a new business class menu while also expanding its inflight entertainment library by more than a third. The Irish flag carrier updates its menus every three months, with the latest iteration including dishes such as skin-on thyme and parsley chicken supreme, herb-infused roasted pork, pan-fried hake, citrus-marinated salmon and a vegetarian root vegetable and pearl barley stew. The airline will also serve starters of Irish smoked salmon, saffron-poached prawns, and a roast parsnip and seasonal apple soup, while desserts include a choice of lemon cream mousse and a local cheese board. Air France and KLM have opened a fully refurbished Air-Rail Terminal at Brussels-South (also known as Bruxelles-Midi or Brussel-Zuid). The revamped facility is open daily between 0530 and 1830, and comes ahead of a seventh daily high-speed rail service being added between Brussels-South and Paris CDG this summer. Heathrow unveils plans for new baggage system at Terminal 2 – Business Traveller

Heathrow has announced plans to build a new dedicated baggage system at its Terminal 2. The terminal currently uses a 30-year-old system housed within the airport’s Terminal 1, which closed to passengers in 2015 after 47 years of operation. BEUMER Group has been appointed to deliver the six-year project, with the new system capable of handling 31,000 bags per day when complete. Heathrow also said that “new technology with greater data analytics means the upgrade will deliver the predictable and reliable service customers need”. Dubai announced as Avios-Only flight destination In long-haul news, the airline has announced that Dubai will be the next destination for its Avios-Only flight initiative, where every seat onboard is available to purchase using Avios. Normally BA guarantees a minimum of 12 and 14 reward seats on short- and long-haul flights respectively. The BA105 route from London Heathrow to Dubai will offer 214 reward seats across three cabins on 26 October, 2024. LNER has launched its Christmas menu for first class customers, which is available until 3 January, 2024. This year’s menu comes with a festive cocktail, designed exclusively for LNER by Tom Savano. The blood orange Christmas Cosmo include lime, cranberry and vodka, while further festive drinks include an apple and sweet cinnamon tea produced by Taylors of Harrogate. Dishes on the Christmas menu include a turkey and cranberry ‘sausage’ roll, topped with sage and black onion seeds and served with an orange, spiced carrot and pumpkin ketchup; a cheese and slaw sandwich served on malted wheat grain bread; and ravioli with burrata, truffle and spinach sauce. The aircraft (named after the artwork Minyma Kutjara Tjukurpa) will be configured with 10 business class and 127 economy seats, and will initially operate flights between Melbourne and Canberra. Qantas said the A220 had almost double the range of its existing 717 aircraft, allowing it to fly between any city in Australia.
