EasyJet cancels 1,700 summer flights from Gatwick – Business Traveller

EasyJet has cut around 1,700 flights from its Gatwick summer schedules, as a result of “challenging conditions” due to ATC strikes and the ongoing war in Ukraine. The cancellations cover the months of July, August and September, when many customers will be heading off on their summer holidays. The airline said that 95 per cent of customers affected by the cancellations had been rebooked onto alternative flights, and all affected passengers have been provided with the option to rebook or receive a refund. Last summer easyJet was also forced to cancel services as the airline industry struggled to cope with the sudden ramping up in demand, following the relaxation of Covid-19 travel restrictions. Time slots are open for 15 minutes, and travellers are advised to wait at Plaza area if they arrive early as it may not yet be active. Billy Bishop Toronto City airport to gain US preclearance facility – Business Traveller

Billy Bishop Toronto City airport is to become the ninth Canadian airport to have US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) preclearance facilities. Owner PortsToronto confirmed that up to $30 million in funding for the facility at the city’s downtown airport will be provided by the federal government, with construction expected to take between 18 and 24 months. Once the preclearance facility opens in 2025, passengers will be able to clear customs before departure from the airport, rather than upon landing in the US. It will also open up new US markets from Billy Bishop Toronto City airport, as some smaller airports in the US do not have US CBP, and so cannot accept travellers who have not been precleared. The airport will join Canada’s Calgary International, Edmonton International, Stanfie...
