Over the river and through the woods — if only it were that simple. For most people, traveling involves eye-glazing waits at an airport or train station, or hours of driving. At some point, you’ll want a snack.Snacking healthfully while in transit can be tricky. The grab-and-go options “are likely to be processed or ultra-processed foods higher in fat, higher in sodium and lower in fiber,” said Kayli Anderson, a registered dietitian and faculty member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine.Deviating from your usual routines when you travel can lead to unpredictable spikes in hunger, she added. And time pressures — rushing to catch a flight or train, for example — can make it hard to sit down for a meal.“Boredom eating” is also common during long trips, said Shona Halson, a professo...

No Heathrow Express or Elizabeth Line trains to Heathrow this weekend – Business Traveller

Transport for London (TfL) has outlined disruption to rail and Underground services to Heathrow on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 November, in what it says is “a complex weekend of closures”. Planned Heathrow engineering works mean the Elizabeth Line and Heathrow Express will not run to the airport all weekend. In addition there will be no Piccadilly Line service between Acton Town and Uxbridge, although Metropolitan Line trains will run to Uxbridge a...

Virgin Red adds option to redeem points against rail ticket purchases Virgin said that more than 10.5 million Virgin Points had been redeemed against rail travel discounts since the new option went live. Earlier this month Virgin introduced a new flat rate for Virgin Red and...

TfL unveils details of new Piccadilly Line trains – Business Traveller

TfL has released images of its new Piccadilly Line trains, which are set to enter service in 2025.  The first of the 94 trains has arrived at the Siemens Mobility Test and Validation Centre in Germany for testing, having travelled from the production line in Vienna at the end of July. The nine-carriage train will undergo “rigorous tests” including acceleration and braking functionality, noise and vibration trials and testing of onboard equipment. The new trains, which will replace the existing fleet dating from the 1970s, will increase capacity by around 10 per cent and feature walk-through, air-conditioned carriages and improved accessibility. Additionally, the trains are set to be more energy efficient owing to a significantly lighter design, which Siemens says “requires fewer bogies (...
