Shakira to appear in Barcelona court on the first day of her tax fraud trial in Spain

BARCELONA, Spain -- Global pop star Shakira has been summoned Monday to a Barcelona courthouse to attend the first day of her trial for allegedly defrauding Spanish tax officials of millions of euros.Shakira, 46, faces six counts of failing to pay the Spanish government 14.5 million euros (about $15.8 million) in taxes between 2012 and 2014. The multiple Grammy and Latin Grammy winner has denied any wrongdoing and said she had paid everything she owed.The case made headlines in 2018. It currently hinges on where Shakira lived during that period. Tax Evasion: IT department searches Lenovo as part of tax evasion probe

NEW DELHI: The income-tax department conducted searches at the premises of IT hardware maker Lenovo on Wednesday as part of a tax evasion probe against the company and some of its affiliates, official sources said. The raids covered the company's premises in Gurugram in Haryana and Karnataka's capital city Bengaluru, they said. Lenovo leads the global personal computer (PC) market with a 24 per cent share. The company clocked USD 1.9 billion in revenue in India in the 2022-2023 financial year, with a 17 per cent market share in the country.
