Air France-KLM unveils refurbished Air-Rail Terminal at Brussels-South station – Business Traveller

Air France and KLM have opened a fully refurbished Air-Rail Terminal at Brussels-South (also known as Bruxelles-Midi or Brussel-Zuid). The revamped facility is open daily between 0530 and 1830, and comes ahead of a seventh daily high-speed rail service being added between Brussels-South and Paris CDG this summer. The group’s Air&Rail offering enables customers to purchase combined train and air travel under one booking, with a guaranteed seat on the next available flight or train if either service is delayed. Flying Blue members also earn miles on the rail section of the booking, and elite members get benefits including priority check-in, additional luggage allowance, and access to the Eurostar lounge at Brussels-South. Revamped Gatwick airport station to open on 21 November – Business Traveller

Gatwick airport will unveil its upgraded station facilities later this month. The £250 million project has included the creation of a second concourse and airport entrance, with eight new escalators, five new lifts, four new stairways and widened platforms. The existing station concourse has also been expanded, with new customer information systems, more ticket gates, and a dedicated passenger assistance point. When the upgraded facilities open on Tuesday 21 November, the new concourse will act as the entrance for people accessing the airport terminal, with the existing concourse being used for those exiting. Whitbread has announced plans for its latest City of London hotel, following the acquisition of an office building next to Fenchurch Street station. Premier Inn’s owner has acquired the 1970s New London House building on London Street for £56.5 million, and plans to convert it into a hotel-led mixed use development. Whitbread will now seek planning consent from the City of London Corporation to repurpose and extend the building – which currently comprises a podium and tower structure. Aside from a new hotel the group plans to develop “a mix of complementary uses on Crutched Friars and London Street together with new public spaces”. Milan Bergamo begins work on airport rail station – Business Traveller

The airport is also building a new northern taxiway, which will increase capacity by 35 per cent, alongside the addition of three new aircraft stands. Ryanair is the biggest carrier at Milan Bergamo, serving the airport from UK destinations including Birmingham, Bristol, East Midlands, Edinburgh, Liverpool, London Stansted, Manchester and Newacastle.
