IHG signs agreement to double presence in Germany – Business Traveller

IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to double its presence in Germany to more than 200 hotels in almost 100 cities. The hotel group has signed a 30-year agreement with NOVUM Hospitality, one of Germany’s largest private hotel operators. NOVUM Hospitality operates 111 properties are in Germany, with the remaining eight in Austria, the Netherlands and the UK. The agreement will see 108 of NOVUM’s hotels and an additional 11 under development join IHG’s system by 2028. The conversion of these hotels will begin this year and happen in phases, with the hotel group stating that the majority will take place over the next 24 months. Riyadh Air signs cooperation agreement with Turkish Airlines – Business Traveller

Saudi national carrier Riyadh Air has signed a strategic cooperation Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Turkish Airlines. Accordingly, Riyadh Air said that guests of both airlines will be able “to take full advantage of each carrier’s worldwide network through a comprehensive interline and codeshare agreement that will allow customers to seamlessly connect between and combine sectors operated by either Riyadh Air or Turkish Airlines.” Although no firm date has been announced as to when this agreement, subject to regulatory approvals, will take effect, the Saudi carrier said that it hopes to activate it “as soon as possible” after it launches its operations in mid-2025. IHG signs two properties in Saudi Arabia’s Taif – Business Traveller

Earlier this month, IHG Hotels and Resorts signed two properties in Saudi Arabia – Holiday Inn and Suites Taif and Staybridge Suites Taif. For both of these properties, it has partnered with the Al Jumaiah Group. The two properties are expected to open in Q4 2025 in Al Shafa in Taif which is located 2,500m above sea level. The dual signing of these hotels will add 280 rooms to IHG’s portfolio within the country. Holiday Inn and Suites Taif is situated in the Al Shafa Mountains. It will have standalone chalets and several amenities including an all-day dining speciality restaurant and lobby lounge. Etihad signs codeshare with Scandinavian Airlines – Business Traveller

UAE national carrier Etihad Airways signed a codeshare agreement with Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), the flag carrier of Denmark, Norway and Sweden, this week. The codeshare is expected to come into full service at the end of December 2023, which is when customers can book these tickets for travel from January. British Airways has announced a new codeshare deal with India’s largest domestic carrier. From 12 October customers will be able to purchase single ticket connections from London via either Delhi or Mumbai onto eight destinations operated by IndiGo.
