Two of San Francisco’s airports are at loggerheads over a potential renaming of Oakland International Airport. Oakland International (officially named Metropolitan Oakland International Airport) is situated seven miles south of downtown Oakland and 12 miles from San Francisco, on the east side of San Francisco Bay. The Port of Oakland said it was considering changing the facility’s name to San Francisco Bay Oakland International Airport “to boost inbound travellers’ geographic awareness of the airport’s location on the San Francisco Bay”. Starlux inaugurates San Francisco service – Business Traveller

Taiwan-based Starlux Airlines has launched a new nonstop service between its Taipei base and San Francisco, its second US gateway after Los Angeles. Initially, Starlux will operate the Taipei-San Francisco service three times a week, Flight JX011 will leave San Francisco each Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 2340 and arrive in Taipei at 0530 two days later. Flight JX012 will leave Taipei at 2320 and arrive in San Francisco at 1815 on the same days. Starlux will upgrade the Airbus A350-900 service to daily flights from 20 March, 2024. British Airways to launch flights from Edinburgh to Olbia and San Sebastian – Business Traveller

British Airways has announced plans to serve two new destinations from Edinburgh airport next summer. The carrier will offer twice weekly flights to San Sebastian and a weekly service to Olbia in Sardinia, under its BA Cityflyer subsidiary.
