Lufthansa’s A380 returns to LA route – Business Traveller

Los Angeles has become the latest Lufthansa destination to welcome back the A380. The carrier’s superjumbo is now operating daily flights between Munich and Los Angeles, offering increased capacity with a total of 8 seats in first class, 78 in business class, 52 in premium economy and 371 in economy. Schedules see the A380 depart Munich at 1200 and landing into LA at 1615, before returning at 1830 and arriving back into the German city at 1340 the following day. EGYPTAIR to debut new Shanghai route – Business Traveller

Cairo-based Star Alliance member EGYPTAIR will launch a new Cairo-Shanghai route commencing 16 November. The Egyptian flag carrier will deploy one of its Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on the thrice-weekly Shanghai service. This will be the airline’s fourth destination in China, complementing existing services to Beijing, Guangzhou and Hangzhou. EGYPTAIR currently flies to Beijing three times per week, with Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. Service to Guangzhou, however, is daily and also sees the larger 777-300ER operating; while flights to Hangzhou now run thrice-weekly, with the 787-9. Air India adds third route from Bangkok – Business Traveller

Air India will introduce a nonstop service between Kolkata and Bangkok starting 23 October. AI322 will depart Kolkata at 2200 to reach Bangkok at 0205 the next morning. The return flight AI321 will take off from Bangkok at 0305 to land in Kolkata at 0410. The route, operated by narrowbody Airbus aircraft, will offer business class and economy class service. Kolkata-Bangkok will be flown six times a week, from Monday to Saturday. Starlux Airlines launches new Thailand route – Business Traveller

Taipei-based Starlux Airlines will launch a Taipei (Taoyuan)-Chiang Mai route starting 18 January. The carrier will initially operate the service three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, but eventually plans to go to the capital of Northern Thailand daily. Starlux will operate its new-technology Airbus A321 neo aircraft on Taipei-Chiang Mai, a flight of four hours and 20 minutes. The Starlux A321 neos come in a dual-class configuration, with eight lie-flat business class seats in a 2-2 layout and 180 economy class seats in a 3-3 set-up. Singapore Airlines to boost Manchester-Houston route – Business Traveller

Singapore Airlines has announced plans to increase its Manchester-Houston route next year. The fifth freedom service (which routes Singapore-Manchester-Houston) originally launched in 2016, before being suspended during the Covid-19 pandemic and then reinstated in late 2021. It currently operates three-times-weekly, but will increase to five flights per week from 31 March, 2024. Scotland-based travellers can take advantage of Loganair’s interline agreement with Singapore Airlines, with the regional carrier operating 21 weekly services between Aberdeen and Manchester, and single booking also available on routes from Inverness, Isle of Man and Newquay, through Manchester and onto Houston. Fiji Airways expands route network – Business Traveller

Oneworld connecting partner Fiji Airways will launch a twice-weekly route between its Nadi base and Noumea in New Caledonia. The airline will deploy one of its Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft on the route. These seat 170 passengers in a dual-class configuration, comprising eight 2-2 configured business class recliners and 162 economy class seats. JetBlue launches Boston-Amsterdam route – Business Traveller

JetBlue has launched its second transatlantic route to the Netherlands, with a daily service between Boston and Amsterdam. Flights depart Boston Logan airport at 2213, arriving into Schiphol at 0935 the following day, before returning at 1135 and landing back into Boston at 1400. The route is being operated by JetBlue A321 LR aircraft, configured with 114 core (economy) seats and 24 Mint Suites. The daily service joins the carrier’s flights between New York JFK and Amsterdam Schiphol, which launched on 29 August. Vistara, the Indian full-service carrier and a joint venture of Tata group and Singapore Airlines (SIA), has announced daily nonstop flights between Delhi and Hong Kong, starting 29 October. The airline will operate its Airbus A321 neo aircraft featuring a three-class configuration on Delhi-Hong Kong. The flights will depart from Delhi at 2105, arriving in Hong Kong the following morning at 0555. The return flights leave Hong Kong at 0855, arriving back in Delhi ay 1310. The Vistara A321 neos feature 12 lie-flat business class seats configured 2-2, 24 premium economy seats in a 3-3 layout, and 152 standard economy seats, also in a 3-3 configuration. Starting 29 October, the number of All Nippon Airways (ANA) international flights departing from Tokyo’s downtown Haneda airport Terminal 2, will more than triple, increasing from the current five flights to 16 flights. The 16 international flights will include all ANA flights from Haneda to Europe (London, Paris, Frankfurt, and Munich), as well as flights to Hong Kong, Taipei Songshan, Honolulu, Singapore, Sydney, Shanghai (Hongqiao), Shenzhen, and Vancouver. Some of these services will run multiple times a day, including flights to Frankfurt and Sydney. Brussels Airlines to resume route to Nairobi – Business Traveller

Brussels Airlines plans to resume flights to the Kenyan capital next year, thanks to the addition of a tenth A330 aircraft into its fleet. The aircraft is set to be operational next summer, bringing the number of A330s back to pre-Covid level, with the route to Nairobi launching in June 2024. The Belgian flag carrier last served Nairobi between 2002 and 2015. Tickets will go on sale tomorrow, with the route operating six times weekly during the summer and four times per week in the winter.
