Manchester Airport reveals most-confiscated items at security – Business Traveller

Manchester Airport has provided details on confiscated items at security in a bid to remind passengers of hand luggage regulations . The most-confiscated item “by far” is a cigarette lighter, with 284 lighters handed in over the course of one morning. While passengers are allowed to carry one lighter with them, provided it fits into a clear resealable plastic bag and contains under 100ml of liquid, they cannot have multiple. Almost 400 items were confiscated in one morning at the airport, with further items including 22 pairs of scissors, five multi-tools, four corkscrews, two hacksaws and two packs of darts. OAG reveals busiest airline routes in 2023 – Business Traveller

Aviation analytics firm OAG has published its report on the busiest airline routes for 2023, with Kuala Lumpur International-Singapore Changi topping the list of international routes. The route had a total of 4.9 million seats last year, pushing Cairo-Jeddah down to second spot with 4.8 million seats. Seven of the top ten busiest international routes involved Asia-Pacific destinations, with Hong Kong-Taipei taking third spot with 4.6 million seats (down around 43 per cent on 2019 levels). Eve Air Mobility, an urban air mobility company founded by Embraer, has signed an MoU with Saudi carrier flynas to explore the future of electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft operations in the kingdom. At the ongoing World Travel Market in London, Red Sea Global (RSG) announced it will operate its own luxury hotel brand called Shebara in Saudi Arabia. Located at its The Red Sea destination, Shebara is slated to open in summer 2024 and is the first resort to be owned and operated by RSG at The Red Sea destination. Radisson Hotel Group reveals growth plans for the Middle East – Business Traveller

At the recently concluded Future Hospitality Summit 2023 held in Abu Dhabi, Radisson Hotel Group said that it aims to reach 100 operational hotels in the Middle East by 2026. By 2030, it said that it plans to have a portfolio of 150 operational and under development properties across the Middle East. The group’s current portfolio includes 77 properties in the Middle East comprising over 11,619 keys.
