Defence Exports: 2023 witnesses record defence exports, all-time high productions

NEW DELHI: In the year 2023 the ministry of defence it witnessed defence exports reaching an all-time high--almost Rs 3,000 crore more than the previous financial year--and defence productions crossing the figure of Rs one lakh crore for the first time.The year also saw growing 'global' demand for LCA-Tejas, light combat helicopters, aircraft carriers and others. To achieve 'Aatmanirbharta' in defence and armed forces modernisation surged ahead with renewed thrust, the strengthening of border infrastructure, utilising Nari Shakti and ensuring ex-servicemen welfare were at the core of the functioning of the defence ministry. Dubai Airshow 2023 set to be biggest on record – Business Traveller

This year’s Dubai Airshow is set to be the biggest on record, with more than 1,400 exhibitors from 95 countries expected to attend the biennial event. The 18th edition of the Airshow will take place from November 13-17 at Dubai World Central (DWC), Dubai Airshow Site. Prominent participants this year include Emirates, Etihad Airways, Riyadh Air, Saudia, and Qatar Airways, as well as aircraft manufacturers such as Boeing, among several others. Tamirat Tola sets NYC Marathon course record to win men’s race

By Doug Feinberg Tamirat Tola of Ethiopia set a course record to win the New York City Marathon men’s race on Sunday while Hellen Obiri of Kenya pulled away in the final 400 meters to take the women’s title. Tola finished in 2 hours, 4 minutes and 58 seconds, topping the 2:05.06 set by Geoffrey Mutai in 2011. Tola pulled away from countrymate Jemal Yimer when the pair were heading toward the Bronx at mile 20. By the time Tola headed back into Manhattan a mile later he was up by 19 seconds and left only chasing Mutai’s mark. Heathrow reports record passenger figures for September – Business Traveller

Heathrow welcomed 7,075,530 passengers last month – its highest ever September figures. It compares to around 6.8 million passengers who travelled through the airport in September 2019, and is more than 22 per cent higher than the 5.8 million passengers for September 2022. It’s also the first time since February 2020 – shortly before travel restrictions were introduced due to Covid-19 – that monthly passenger figures have exceeded the equivalent period in 2019. EasyJet reports record third quarter profits – Business Traveller

EasyJet has published its latest trading update, showing record profits, increased revenue per seat and strong demand for its easyJet Holidays division. The low-cost carrier made £203 million before tax in the third quarter ending 30 June, a £317 million improvement on the same period of last year. Passenger growth was up 7 per cent year-on-year, and the airline also recorded a 23 per cent increase in revenue per seat.
