The Social Hub opens first UK property in Glasgow – Business Traveller

Amsterdam-based brand The Social Hub is opening a property in Glasgow on 12 April, marking its debut in the UK. The “hybrid hospitality concept” is aimed at business travellers, students and tourists, with its properties offering a mixture of hotel rooms, student accommodation and extended-stay rooms. The Social Hub Glasgow is located on Candleriggs Square within the city’s Merchant City District, and features 494 rooms of various configurations. Additionally, the property includes a co-working space which offers flexible memberships and dedicated desks – with capacity for 222 people on a daily basis – as well as 20 private offices, meeting and event spaces and an auditorium. Radisson Collection adds second Rome property – Business Traveller

Hyatt adds first Barcelona property under Grand Hyatt brand – Business Traveller

Hyatt has added the second Spanish property and just the fifth in Europe under its Grand Hyatt brand. Grand Hyatt Barcelona is located on Plaça de Piu XII on the city’s famous Avenida Diagonal, and features 465 rooms including 49 suites. If this sounds familiar it’s because the existing property was previously trading under Hyatt’s Unbound Collection. The hotel originally opened in 1975 as Hotel Princesa Sofia, before becoming an InterContinental property in the 1990s. Budapest’s Gellért hotel to become Mandarin Oriental property – Business Traveller

Mandarin Oriental has announced plans to open its first property in Hungary, with the existing Gellért hotel in Budapest set to be rebranded as the Mandarin Oriental Gellert, Budapest. The Art Nouveau property first opened in 1918, located at the foot of Gellert Hill on the Buda side of the city and overlooking the Danube river close to Liberty Bridge. The hotel has been closed for renovations since December 2021, and is now scheduled to reopen in 2027, featuring 143 rooms and suites designed by London-based Alexander Waterworth.
