As we approach the 2024 primaries, some Republicans have begun arguing that the checks and balances constructed by the framers of our Constitution make our republic invulnerable to whatever illegal or unconstitutional acts Donald Trump might attempt in a second term. The framers explicitly warned us that the checks and balances are only as effective as the people responsible for carrying them out. India’s power consumption grows nearly 9 pc to 1,099.90 billion units in April-November

NEW DELHI: Power consumption has increased by nearly nine per cent to 1,099.90 billion units (BU) in the country during April-November this fiscal compared to the same period a year ago, showing a surge in economic activities. The power consumption in the country was 1,010.20 BU in April-November 2022-23, higher than 916.52 BU recorded in the same period of 2021-22. Power consumption in the entire fiscal 2022-23 was 1,504.26 BU, higher than 1,374.02 BU witnessed in 2021-22 financial year. Industry experts said that around nine per cent growth in power consumption in the first eight months of this fiscal year shows buoyancy in the economy. NEW DELHI: India's power demand is expected to grow by more than 70 per cent over the next decade with a strong focus on non-hydropower renewable sources, a report said on Tuesday.The coal-powered generation will still account for a majority of production by 2032, illustrating the country's heavy reliance on the coal sector, BMI, a division of Fitch Group, said in a report."We forecast India's electricity generation to grow by over 70 per cent over the next decade, marking the largest increase among the world's largest electricity producers.
