Zedwell opens third windowless hotel in London – Business Traveller

Zedwell Hotels has opened its latest property in the UK capital, located in Greenwich close to the River Thames. The 96-room property is housed within the glass and steel Cavatina Point building on Harmony Place, but despite its above-ground location the hotel follows the brand’s existing Piccadilly and Tottenham Court Road properties in offering a windowless sleep concept. Each “cocoon” can accommodate up to two guests, and are “intentionally free from TVs and extraneous distractions”, with features including Hypnos beds, Egyptian cotton sheets, rain showers and ambient, circadian rhythm-based lighting. Edyn has opened the latest property under its fledgling Cove brand. Cove Huntingdon House is located within an existing building on Kensington’s Cromwell Road, around ten minutes’ walk north of Earl’s Court Station. Features include three one-bedroom and 11 two-bedroom apartments, with interior design by Berlin-based Amy Brandhorst. The property has been designed for stays of 90 days or more, with rates starting from £150 + VAT per night. Cove Huntingdon House is located next to another edyn property – Ember Locke – which opened this summer following the conversion of the former NH Kensington hotel. Design elements include a copper-clad entry paying homage to subterranean Sydney and its disused railway tunnels, and a blue circular bar and nest-like seating referencing the Australian Bowerbird. Star Alliance has today opened its second lounge at Paris Charles de Gaulle airport. The 1,300 sqm lounge is located airside after immigration and security in the newest part of Terminal 1. The lounge is open to first and business class passengers as well as Star Alliance Gold status customers on member airline flights departing from gates 10-38. Eligible United Club and Air Canada Maple Leaf Club members can also gain entry to the lounge. At the moment, 20 Star Alliance member carriers operate from the airport, offering 464 weekly departures to 34 destinations in 22 countries. Southampton airport has officially opened the 164-metre extension to its existing runway, which it says will allow it to attract more airlines and “help deliver new routes and services for the people of Southampton and the wider region”. Work began to lay the 164-metre extension to the northern end of the airport’s runway in March of this year, and the extension became operational in August. This week’s official opening ceremony was attended by Aviation Minister Baroness Vere, and included a take-off of a World War II Spitfire from the runway extension. Permission to extend the runway was originally granted by Eastleigh Borough Council in 2021, but local opposition led to the decision going to the Court of Appeal, where it was upheld in August 2022.
