American Airlines to offer high-speed wifi on 500 regional aircraft – Business Traveller

American Airlines is set to install high-speed wifi on nearly 500 regional aircraft, with the rollout starting early next year. American Airlines already offers wifi on 900 mainline aircraft, but will extend the same high-speed connectivity to its regional aircraft over the next two years. The carrier is purchasing new technology from provider Intelsat, whose Electronically Steered Array (ESA) antenna will allow “regional aircraft to match fast wifi speeds that are currently available on American’s mainline aircraft”. ITA Airways to offer fully flat business class on Heathrow-Rome route – Business Traveller

ITA Airways has announced plans to temporarily serve its Rome Fiumicino-London Heathrow route with the carrier’s new A321neo. The aircraft will operate daily flights on the route between 1 December and the end of January, departing Rome at 1400 and arriving into Heathrow at 1630, before returning at 1700 and landing back into the Italian capital at 2100. ITA’s A321neo is configured in three classes, with 12 business class seats offering a fully flat bed, a further 12 premium economy seats, and 141 economy seats (12 of which are designated as Comfort Economy). Emirates to offer luggage and accessories made out of upcycled aircraft interiors – Business Traveller

Emirates has announced plans to launch a range of luggage and accessories made out of repurposed parts of the carrier’s A380 and 777 aircraft. The limited-edition range includes suitcases, backpacks, handbags, cardholders, toiletry bags, belts and shoes, with all proceeds going to the Emirates Airline Foundation. Materials used to make the products includes leather from couches in the Emirates A380 onboard lounge, to seatbelts, aluminium headrest and fur from the Captains seat. The materials have been recovered as part of the retrofit of 120 of Emirates’ A380 and 777 aircraft, described by the carrier as “the largest known fleet retrofit project”. Iberia has outlined plans for long-haul transatlantic services next summer, including a record 328 weekly flights to Latin America. The carrier will further increase frequencies to the United States in summer 2024, with a total of 126 weekly flights to eight destinations. SWISS to offer expanded premium economy cabin on A350s – Business Traveller

SWISS has confirmed the layout for its forthcoming Airbus A350 aircraft, including an expanded premium economy cabin. The carrier is expected to begin taking delivery of the first of five A350s from 2025, replacing its existing fleet of four A340 aircraft. The A350s will offer a total of 242 seats – 156 in economy, 38 in premium economy, 45 in business class, and three first class suites. The premium economy cabin is significantly larger than that already offered on SWISS’ Boeing 777-300ER and Airbus A340-300 aircraft, which feature 24 and 21 premium economy seats respectively. Finnair has announced plans to further roll out its new premium economy and business class cabins this summer. The flag carrier launched its innovative new business class seat in early 2022, alongside the airline’s first premium economy cabin. British Airways Holidays further extends double tier points offer – Business Traveller

British Airways has once again extended its double tier points offer on flights taken as part of selected package holidays. The carrier first launched the offer in 2021 to encourage customers to book during the Covid pandemic, but has extended the promotion several times, most recently in May of this year. The offer is now valid for travel up until 31 December, 2024, for customers booking a minimum five-night package (flight and hotel or flight and car hire). Note that bookings must originate in the UK to be eligible for the double tier points, and the terms and conditions for the offer stipulate that the hotel/car element of the package must be used (hotel occupied and or car rental hired) for the full booked duration.
