LNER trials integration of British Sign Language on customer information screens – Business Traveller

LNER has become the first rail operator in the UK to trial sign language videos on its departure information screens. Several scenes at Doncaster Railway station now display videos translating updates into British Sign Language (BSL), including the departure time of services, the train operator, destination, calling points and platform number. Any changes to departure times or platforms will also be detailed via sign languages videos, as will updates in the event of delays or cancellations. LNER is working with Doncaster Deaf Trust and Communication Specialist College Doncaster on the project, with the trial set to run throughout December. LNER unveils first class Christmas menu – Business Traveller

LNER has launched its Christmas menu for first class customers, which is available until 3 January, 2024. This year’s menu comes with a festive cocktail, designed exclusively for LNER by Tom Savano. The blood orange Christmas Cosmo include lime, cranberry and vodka, while further festive drinks include an apple and sweet cinnamon tea produced by Taylors of Harrogate. Dishes on the Christmas menu include a turkey and cranberry ‘sausage’ roll, topped with sage and black onion seeds and served with an orange, spiced carrot and pumpkin ketchup; a cheese and slaw sandwich served on malted wheat grain bread; and ravioli with burrata, truffle and spinach sauce. London North Eastern Railway (LNER) is celebrating its 100th anniversary by launching a pop-up restaurant featuring dishes served to train passengers over the past century. The ‘LNER 1923 Restaurant’ will be held on the evenings of 6 and 7 November at The Cookery School at The Grand in York – the former HQ of LNER. Diners will be transported back in time at this immersive supper-club style event, with dishes inspired by the past, present and future amid 1920s decor and music from the roaring twenties. LNER to boost Sunday services between Yorkshire and London – Business Traveller

LNER has announced plans to add more services and seats between Yorkshire and London on Sundays. The rail operator said that Sundays “are now one of the most popular days for journeys with 30 per cent more customers travelling across the 956-mile LNER network than in 2019”. To meet this demand LNER is adding three additional services to its timetable – two between Leeds and London King’s Cross and one between Doncaster and London.
