Sensex turns course, rises 100 pts; RIL, HDFC Bank up 1%

11:57 AMAshok Leyland wins order to supply 552 buses to Tamil Nadu transport corpn Ashok Leyland, the country’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturer, said on Thursday it has won an order from the Tamil Nadu government for providing 552 Ultra-Low Entry (ULE) diesel non-AC buses.   Ashok Leyland, the Indian flagship company of the Hinduja Group, said the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) already operates 18,477 of its buses. The new order marks a "groundbreaking collaboration" between Ashok Leyland and TNSTC in the pursuit of 'Mobility for All', the state government's commitment to promote public transportation, said a press statement. Sensex up 400 pts, Nifty holds 19,800; IT, Pharma shine

Stock market updates on October 11, 2023: Frontline indices were seen holding strong gains in Wednesday's intra-day trade on the back of supportive cues from the global peers.  The S&P BSE Sensex quoted 500 points higher around 66,580, while the NSE Nifty was seen holding the 19,800 level - up 140 points. In the broader market, the BSE MidCap and the SmallCap indices advanced around 1 per cent each. Wipro, Hindustan Unilever, UltraTech Cement, Infosys, JSW Steel, NTPC and Kotak Bank were the top gainers, up over 1 per cent each, among the Sensex 30 stocks.
