Conservative Donors Failed to Show Up in the 2023 Elections

Once critics of the supposedly malign influence of money in politics, the progressive left proved to be big spenders in November’s elections. In four key state races—for Kentucky’s governor, Virginia’s General Assembly, Pennsylvania’s Supreme Court and Ohio’s abortion referendum—left-wing advocacy groups dropped at least $135 million on campaign ads, outspending conservative groups by $42 million.A few years ago, left-leaning organizations and media outlets warned that conservatives had come to “dominate” state politics and policy. They pointed to Republican victories in state elections and significant policy achievements like the Wisconsin collective-bargaining reform known as Act 10. Those of us working in the trenches on these issues knew better. Government unions and progressive speci...

Wall Street dips as benchmark US bond yields breach 5%

NEW YORK: Wall Street dipped on Friday as investors neared the finish line of a week marked with mixed earnings, warnings of possible further interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve, and worries of escalation of the Middle East conflict. The yield on 10-year US Treasury notes was briefly bid above the 5% barrier on Thursday for the first time since July 2007, touching 5.001%. The benchmark yield is on course for its largest weekly surge since April 2022, powered by solid economic data. All three major US stock indexes were lower by the afternoon, with interest rate-sensitive tech and tech-related megacaps pulling the Nasdaq down most. All three indexes appeared set to register week-on-week losses. "Investor sentiment is quite negative, and we believe it's important to zoom out and f...

Does The Kentucky Attorney General Go To Work? An Investigation.

There is no record of Kentucky’s Republican attorney general, Daniel Cameron, using his key fob or any other kind of security card to get into the state Capitol building for the last three years, and his office is repeatedly refusing to say why. What? HuffPost is on the case. The facts: A series of open records requests for Cameron’s key fob and security card logs at the Capitol building came back blank. The blank pages span all the way back to January 2020, which was the last time Cameron was registered using his key fob to enter the building. The Kentucky state office that processes open records requests, the Finance and Administration Cabinet, specifies in a letter accompanying the records that nothing has been withheld or redacted. As in, the blank pages are blank because there are no re...
