Anti-Zionism Is Deadlier Than Antisemitism

Some say that anti-Zionism isn’t tantamount to antisemitism. If so, it’s worse. Antisemitism always stings, but in the West today, it usually doesn’t wound. The same can’t be said of anti-Zionism.Antisemitism in America has consisted mostly of small things: exclusion from country clubs, restrictive covenants on housing, quotas in college admissions, casual slights and insults. Since World War II, the same has been true, if a little worse, in the rest of the West. America and Europe have seen horrible moments of violence, such as at the Tree of Life synagogue in 2018 or the Toulouse shootings in France in 2012, as well as instances of intimidation, vandalism and assault. But these have mostly been isolated incidents.Copyright ©2023 Dow Jones & Company, Inc. All Rights Reserved. 87990cb...

How Jews Escaped Their Dismal Fate

Throughout history Jews have suffered mass murder on a regular basis. It began with the expulsion from Judea (which the Romans renamed Syria Palestina) after the Bar Kokhba rebellion in the year 135. Crusaders killed thousands in the Rhineland massacres of 1096. During the Black Death of 1346-53, Jews were blamed for the plague and murdered. Many more were tortured to death and burned during the Spanish Inquisition. In 1648-49, Bogdan Chmielnicki and his Cossacks slaughtered tens of thousands of Jews in Ukraine. The same thing occurred during the Russian pogroms. In Kishinev, 49 Jews were savagely annihilated in 1903, and more were killed in 1905. Arab riots in Hebron and other places in 1929 resulted in 133 Jews killed. Two millennia of murders reached the unthinkable with the Nazi Einsa...

Harvard Bans ‘Cisheterosexism’ but Shrugs at Antisemitism

What constitutes bullying and harassment at Harvard? A mandatory Title IX training last year warned all undergraduate students that “cisheterosexism,” “fatphobia” and “using the wrong pronouns” qualified as “abuse” and perpetuated “violence” on campus. But when I asked Harvard President Claudine Gay at a congressional hearing whether calls for the genocide of Jews violated the university’s rules on bullying and harassment, she answered: “It depends on the context.” Pressed further, she said it would qualify “when it crosses into conduct.” I received similar answers from the presidents of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the University of Pennsylvania.Copyright ©2023 Dow Jones & Company, Inc. Why the Jewish Way of Living Matters

Nov. 23, 2023 12:15 pm ETJerusalemWhy do Jewish lives matter? Why do we suddenly care so much about Israel or Jewish survival? Is it merely from a nativist love of our own or a need to deny posthumous victories to Hitler? Is it only the Jew as eternal victim that we cherish? God forbid. “Never again” is never enough. What matters are not only Jewish lives, but the Jewish way of living.Copyright ©2023 Dow Jones & Company, Inc. All Rights Reserved. 87990cbe856818d5eddac44c7b1cdeb8

Despite Calling Hezbollah ‘Very Smart,’ Trump Remains Loved Among Jewish Republicans

LAS VEGAS — Despite having praised the anti-Israel group Hezbollah as “very smart” and disparaging Israeli leaders just days after an attack that killed well over a thousand people in the country, Donald Trump nevertheless received a hero’s welcome Saturday at the Republican Jewish Coalition’s annual conference.Trump, the eighth and final speaker at a forum of 2024 GOP presidential candidates, got a lengthy standing ovation before he even said a word in a massive ballroom at The Venetian Resort on the Las Vegas Strip.“I love Israel,” he said to cheers. “I love Israel.”Over the next half-hour, the former president ticked off all the things he had done for the country and encouraged Israel to wipe out Hamas, whose members carried out the Oct. 7 assault, while criticizing U.S. President Joe ...
