Warner Bros. responds to “insensitive” social media posts after viral backlash in Japan

The "Barbie" movie and "Oppenheimer" — about the scientist behind the atomic bomb — went head to head in theaters, but fans mashed them up, making "Barbenheimer" a global phenomenon. But in the only country attacked by atomic bombs, fan-made artwork of the beloved childhood icon paired with mushroom clouds didn't sit well with social media users.  "#NoBarbenheimer" trended in Japan, reflecting a backlash sparked by what Japanese media said was the film's official U.S. account's cheerful replies to several memes. Those replies were later deleted. By some estimates, more than 200,000 people were killed as a direct result of the two atomic bombs dropped by the U.S. on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. "Warner Brothers regrets its recent insensitive social me...

The UK, after a Brexit-induced slump, jumped two places to fourth, a position it last held in 2017.Singapore is a magnet for wealth, with a recent influx driven by a crackdown on private enterprise in China and fears over geopolitical tensions. Zee Entertainment forms interim committee to run operations; shares up 6.3%

BENGALURU (Reuters) - Zee Entertainment Enterprises on Monday said it formed an interim committee to run operations after ex-chairman Subhash Chandra and CEO Punit Goenka failed to overturn the market regulator's ban on them holding board positions. The interim committee will be under the supervision of Zee's board, a company spokesperson said. The Securities and Exchange Board of India in June banned Chandra and Goenka from holding board positions in publicly listed companies for a year, alleging they were actively involved in diverting funds to the group's other listed entities and firms related to founding shareholders. Last week, the Security Appellate Tribunal refused to vacate the regulator's decision, saying it did not find any illegality or irrationalit...
