Vistara strengthens international connectivity from Mumbai – Business Traveller

Vistara, a joint venture of Tata group and Singapore Airlines, will boost international connectivity from Mumbai by increasing frequencies to two popular international destinations – London Heathrow and Singapore. The airline will increase the flight frequency between Mumbai and London Heathrow, from 4x weekly to daily flights, starting 1 March 2024. Additionally, Vistara will introduce a second daily flight between Mumbai and Singapore from 1 February 2024, using its A321neo aircraft. Vistara also operates daily flights between Delhi and London Heathrow, and flies daily to Singapore from Delhi and 6x weekly from Pune. Qatar Duty Free inaugurates Souq Al Matar at Hamad International – Business Traveller

This week, Qatar Duty Free (QDF), the owner and operator of all retail and catering outlets at Hamad International Airport in Doha, unveiled Souq Al Matar. Located in the North Node terminal of Hamad International (HIA), Souq Al Matar is positioned as an experiential mixed retail and dining concept. The new space features seven shops and two restaurants, developed in collaboration with architect Ibrahim M. Jaidah, who also designed the Al Thumama Stadium in Doha which was one of the venues for the FIFA World Cup last year. Souq Al Matar has wicker woven ceilings, arched doorways, and wooden-framed windows. Qantas extends neighbour-free seat trial to more international routes – Business Traveller

Following a trial on domestic services earlier this year, Australia’s Qantas Airways is now extending its Neighbour-Free seating trial to 19 international routes. Destinations included in the current trial include Singapore, Auckland, Christchurch, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas and Honolulu. The service is available to eligible passengers booked in economy class. Premium economy or business class passengers will not be offered this option. Neighbour-Free seating will start from A$45 on trans-Tasman flights, A$100 (US$63) between Australia and Singapore, and A$225 between Australia and the United States. VINCI announces £100 million investment plan for Belfast International – Business Traveller

The owner and operator of Belfast International has announced plans to invest £100 million in the airport over the next five years. VINCI Airports said that the investment would enhance the airport’s operational and environmental efficiency, with work already underway to construct a new £25 million security building next to the existing terminal. American Airlines unveils catering facility at Dallas Fort Worth International – Business Traveller

American Airlines has unveiled a $100 million catering facility to serve its hub at Dallas Fort Worth International airport (DFW). At just under 20,000 sqm, the building is the largest airline catering kitchen in the country according to the carrier and is more than three times the size of a football field. The airline says that, since it opened at the start of the summer, the kitchen has helped to “minimise catering delays, improving the hub’s operation which in turn improves the airline’s operation”. During peak travel season, the catering facility prepares nearly 15,000 fresh meals a day here. Akasa Air prepares to go international with the induction of its 20th aircraft to their fleet

Akasa Air has inducted its 20th aircraft, a Boeing B737-8-200 in the fleet. This will now enable Akasa to fly internationally, according to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) norms. Akasa Air claimed that it became the first airline in Asia to add the B737-8-200 aircraft to its fleet. The 20th aircraft is registered as VT-YAV, which landed in Bengaluru International Airport today at 9:31 am and received a ceremonial welcome.
