Asian shares defy Wall St selloff; US futures in green

Stock Market Live: Benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty are eyeing a quiet start on Friday after plunging to four-month lows in the previous session. At 7:15 am, the Gift Nifty futures were nearly flat at 18,973.  Asian markets, however, held their ground this morning in an attempt to rebound from sharp losses previously. Nikkei, Hang Seng rose 0.9 and 0.7 per cent, respectively. S&P/ASX 200 and Kospi gained up to 0.44 per cent.  In the US after-market trade, Nasdaq futures were in green, up 0.7 per cent as Amazon rose 5 per cent on beating earnings expectations. S&P 500 futures gained 0.5 per cent, and Dow futures were up 0.3 per cent.  Back home, Q2 earnings of Reliance Industries, Maruti, Cipla, Dr Reddy's, SBI Cards, among others will be on radar. ...

Sensex drops 350 pts, Nifty below 19200; PSBs defy trend

Stock Market Live: Equity benchmark indices erased all gains on Wednesday and edged lower in choppy trade around noon. The BSE Sensex fell 150 points to 64,428, and the NSE Nifty50 lost 41 points to 19,238. Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Nestle, SBI, HCL Tech and Ultratech Cement led gains on the Sensex, while Hindalco, Adani Enterprises and Adani Ports were the additional Nifty winners. On the flip side, NTPC, Power Grid, Infosys, HDFC Life and Bharti Airtel were among the top frontline drags. The broader markets turned flat after strong gains at the day's open. Stock Market Live: Equity benchmark indices weakened in mid-day trade on Monday as the broader markets suffered sharper losses. The BSE Sensex was down 200 points to 65,206 and the NSE Nifty50 shed 80 points to 19,460  As compared to frontline indices, the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices held sharper cuts of over 1 per cent and 2 per cent, respectively. Among individual stocks, Paytm slid 5 per cent despite narrowing its net loss to Rs 290.5 crore in Q2 from Rs 571 a year ago. BSE surged 13 per cent after it increased transaction charges for Sensex options contracts in the equity derivative segment.

Sensex gains 300 pts, Nifty at 19,800; Bajaj twins lead

Opening Bell: Firm global cues lifted Indian benchmarks by up to 0.56 per cent in early deals on Tuesday, led by HDFC Bank, Bajaj twins, Tata Steel, Wipro, Tech M, SBI, Axis Bank, and Titan Company. The S&P BSE Sensex quoted at 66,535 levels, with gains of 368 points, while the Nifty50 hovered above 19,800-mark.  The broader markets, meanwhile, extended their winning run with the BSE MidCap and SmallCap indices gaining 0.48 per cent and 0.83 per cent, respectively. Among sectors, all the key indices were in the green with the Nifty PSU Bank index up 0.8 per cent, followed by the Nifty Financial Services and Metal indices (up 0.7 per cent each), and the Nifty Media index (up 0.5 per cent).
