100 Princes Street hotel opens in Edinburgh – Business Traveller

Edinburgh has welcomed a new boutique hotel in its city centre, with 100 Princes Street opening its doors to guests. 100 Princes Street marks the first Scottish property from family-owned hotel collection, Red Carnation Hotels. The boutique hotel occupies the building which formerly housed the headquarters of the Royal Overseas League, located close to Scotland’s National Gallery and facing Edinburgh Castle. The former Ace Hotel London on Shoreditch High Street closed in early 2020 shortly after the onset of Covid-19, and reopened as One Hundred Shoreditch under the Lore Group in 2022. Hotel management company Kew Green Hotels has announced plans to reflag two existing properties in Leicester and Manchester under IHG’s voco brand. The group has acquired Hotel Brooklyn Leicester and Hotel Brooklyn Manchester, and has signed a franchise agreement with IHG to rebrand them as voco properties by mid-2024. The 189-room Hotel Brooklyn Manchester was unveiled in 2020 on the city’s Portland Street, while the 191-room Hotel Brooklyn Leicester opened last summer next to Welford Road Stadium, home of the Leicester Tigers rugby team. Mandarin Oriental has announced plans to open its first property in Hungary, with the existing Gellért hotel in Budapest set to be rebranded as the Mandarin Oriental Gellert, Budapest. The Art Nouveau property first opened in 1918, located at the foot of Gellert Hill on the Buda side of the city and overlooking the Danube river close to Liberty Bridge. The hotel has been closed for renovations since December 2021, and is now scheduled to reopen in 2027, featuring 143 rooms and suites designed by London-based Alexander Waterworth. Accor will debut its Pullman brand in Croatian next year, with a 193-room property in the country’s capital. Pullman Zagreb is scheduled to open in the third quarter of 2024, and will be located within the City Island development in Novi Zagreb.
