Hilton to develop up to 100 NoMad Hotels following Sydell Group acquisition – Business Traveller

Hilton has announced plans to expand the luxury lifestyle NoMad Hotels brand worldwide, following the acquisition of a majority controlling interest in the brand’s owner Sydell Group. There are currently two NoMad Hotels in Las Vegas and London – however the US property is excluded from the transaction, and will rebrand in the coming months. The NoMad London opened in 2021 within the Grade II listed former Bow Street Magistrates’ Court and Police Station in Covent Garden. Radisson Hotel Group has opened a new Radisson Blu Hotel, Amman Galleria Mall in Jordan’s capital. Located inside the Galleria Mall, it is approximately 30km from Queen Alia International airport. The hotel’s prime location provides easy access to the city’s leading dining destinations including Swefieh Village and Wakalat Street, tourist attractions including Amman Citadel and the Jordan Museum and also to the King Hussein Business Park. Lufthansa Group extends Green Fares to selected long-haul routes – Business Traveller

Lufthansa Group has further extended its carbon offsetting Green Fares, with the option now available on 12 long-haul routes. The group first announced plans for the fare option in August last year, which allows passengers to purchase a ticket which includes the offsetting of their individual flight-related CO2 emissions, along with other benefits including additional status miles and a free rebooking option. The initiative was originally launched as a pilot project, before being rolled out across the group’s European and North African routes in February this year. Radisson Hotel Group reveals growth plans for the Middle East – Business Traveller

At the recently concluded Future Hospitality Summit 2023 held in Abu Dhabi, Radisson Hotel Group said that it aims to reach 100 operational hotels in the Middle East by 2026. By 2030, it said that it plans to have a portfolio of 150 operational and under development properties across the Middle East. The group’s current portfolio includes 77 properties in the Middle East comprising over 11,619 keys. In Saudi Arabia, the group’s upcoming opening includes Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Thakher East, in Makkah. It is also planning another property in Makkah with the anticipated debut of Park Inn by Radisson Makkah Thaker West. UAE’s ADNEC Group launches charter flight services – Business Traveller

ADNEC Group, through its tourism arm Tourism 365, has launched new charter flight services from multiple locations around the world to Abu Dhabi. The new service, available from Europe and central Asia, is poised to boost visitor arrivals to the UAE. Charter flights have been launched by Tourism 365 “from high demand and non-commercially operated international markets”, according to new agency WAM. These include Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Belarus, and Tajikistan through its Tour Operators Market like Easy Booking from Central Asia. Qantas Group scraps expiry of Covid travel credits – Business Traveller

Qantas Group has announced a reversal of its decision to expire so-called Covid credits at the end of this year. A total of $2 billion in travel credits were issued across the group as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, and in March Qantas announced a fourth and “final” extension to the validity of the credits. This stipulated that the credits would need to be used as part or full payment for bookings by 31 December, 2023, for travel by December 2024. But the group now says that Qantas customers with Covid credits can request a cash refund indefinitely (system limitations mean they won’t be directly convertible into travel beyond 31 December, 2023), while Jetstar customers can indefinitely use their Covid vouchers for flights. Qatar Airways Group posts net profit of US$1.21 billion for FY 2022-2023 – Business Traveller

Qatar Airways Group reported a net profit of US$1.21 billion during the fiscal year 2022-2023. Overall revenue increased to US$21 billion, up 45 per cent compared to the previous year. It added that passenger revenue also increased by 100 per cent year-on-year, on a capacity increase of 31 per cent driven by nine per cent higher yields and a load factor of 80 per cent – both highest in the airline’s history. Qatar Airways carried 31.7 million passengers, an increase of 71 per cent over last year. The airline transported 1.4 million passengers and operated around 14,000 flights for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 event alone which was held towards the end of last year.
