Trans Kids Are Escaping America For Other Countries

Until a few years ago, Grey Wilson’s journey as a trans person had largely been a peaceful one. A week before his 13th birthday, he came out to his mother, Lauren, in a PowerPoint presentation that laid out why he should be allowed to transition. It had previously proven to be a successful method of getting what he wanted: Every time he yearned to adopt a dog or a bunny, he would create a slideshow detailing the costs of pet ownership, appropriate feeding schedules, and where to obtain the animal in question. (Grey only got turned down when he asked Lauren for a snake.) Lauren, a self-described data nerd, found herself convinced by the research Grey had compiled on the psychological benefits of gender affirmation. When the presentation concluded, she thought to herself, “Yep, that’s my so...

Iowa Professor Knocks Pence’s ‘Appalling’ Trans Youth Argument In Emotional Message

An Iowa professor hit former vice president Mike Pence with an emotional town hall question over his “appalling” argument against providing transgender youth with gender-affirming care. (You can watch the moment below)Melissa McCollister, a social work professor at Grand View University, fought back tears while addressing violence toward trans and gender non-conforming people and the surge in anti-LGBTQ bills during the NewsNation-hosted event.“What is your policy plan to protect the transgender community, specifically Black and brown trans women, from the historically high levels of violence?” asked McCollister, an LBGTQ community member with trans family members.Pence – who favors a national ban on gender-affirming care for trans youth – told McCollister he was “deeply grieved to hear a...

Louisiana Legislature Overrides Dem. Gov’s Veto of Bill Blocking ‘Gender-Affirming Care’ for Minors – RedState

The Louisiana House of Representatives and the state Senate on Tuesday overrode Democrat Gov. John Bel Edwards’ veto of a bill that makes offering so-called gender-affirming care to minors illegal. The bill will now become law and takes effect on January 1, 2024. Both GOP-dominated bodies were able to achieve the required two-thirds majority, with the House voting 76-23 and the Senate 28-11. The law will put an end to the disturbing practice of surgeries and hormone therapies for minors experiencing gender dysphoria who think they can change their sex. Despite what “the experts” tell you, the science on the benefits of these treatments is thin, and there are many drawbacks. But the kids in Louisiana will be a little safer in 2024: The law will bar those under 18 in Louisiana from recei...

Seattle Schools Offer Free ‘Gender-Affirming Care’ to Kids as Young as 11, Instruct Staff Not to Tell Parents – RedState

No matter how many times I run across stories like this one, my reactions range from visceral to logical anger. In this particular case, my emotions run the gamut. I suspect yours do as well. Two public schools in Seattle are reportedly offering “gender-affirming care” to students as young as 11 years old at no cost, which one critic called a “whole new level of awful for schools to be involved.”‘ Documents obtained by Parents Defending Education (PDE) reveal that health centers at Meany Middle School and Nova High School are offering “no-cost comprehensive, trauma-informed, and gender-affirming care, conveniently at the school,” according to the Seattle Public School document. So what about payment for services? No worries; they gotcha covered, kiddies: We bill appropriate services to...

Judge Strikes Down Arkansas Ban On Gender-Affirming Care For Trans Youth

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A federal judge struck down Arkansas’ first-in-the-nation ban on gender-affirming care for children as unconstitutional Tuesday, the first ruling to overturn such a prohibition as a growing number of Republican-led states adopt similar restrictions.U.S. District Judge Jay Moody issued a permanent injunction against the Arkansas law, which would have prohibited doctors from providing gender-affirming hormone treatment, puberty blockers or surgery to anyone under 18.Arkansas’ law, which Moody temporarily blocked in 2021, also would have prohibited doctors from referring patients elsewhere for such care.Republican lawmakers in Arkansas enacted the ban in 2021, overriding a veto by former GOP Gov. Asa Hutchinson. Hutchinson, who left office in January, said the law we...
