Turkish Airlines to expand Birmingham-Istanbul route – Business Traveller

Turkish Airlines has announced plans to operate 18 weekly flights between Birmingham and Istanbul next summer. This winter the carrier is maintaining a twice-daily service between the two cities – rather than dropping down to ten flights per week as it has done previously – and the airline said that “forecasts of even greater demand next year” have led it to add a further four weekly flights from June 2024. Turkish Airlines will operate three flights per day on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with a twice daily service continuing on other days. Aer Lingus and American Airlines expand codeshare agreement – Business Traveller

Aer Lingus and American Airlines have expanded their codeshare agreement to include transatlantic routes from Dublin to Chicago and Philadelphia. The deal means customer can now book flights between the destinations on either of the carriers’ websites, allowing for increased connection options. Aeromexico to expand European operations in 2024 – Business Traveller

Aeromexico has announced plans to ramp up its operations to Europe next year, marking the carrier’s highest connectivity between Mexico and Europe in history. The airline is adding six weekly frequencies to Madrid and three more flights to Paris from Mexico City, stating “it will meet the demand for the peak summer season and connectivity for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games”. Newcastle airport to refurbish and expand Aspire lounge – Business Traveller

Newcastle airport has announced plans to upgrade its Aspire lounge over the next six months. The £1.7 million project will see the facility refurbished and expanded, with space for an additional 100 passengers. Aspire said that the lounge would become its flagship facility in the UK, with a three-tier system being introduced within one lounge for the first time. Emirates and United expand codeshare to include Mexico – Business Traveller

Emirates has announced an expansion to its current codeshare arrangement with United to include nine destinations in Mexico. Starting September 14, Emirates customers will have access to eight new destinations in the country, in addition to Mexico City, which the airline already serves. The expansive codeshare network between Emirates and United currently includes a number of US cities. Mexico becomes the first country outside of the US to be added to that codeshare network. The latest codeshare expansion allows passengers flying on Emirates to either Chicago or Houston, to connect onwards to destinations in Mexico.
