Sam Bankman-Fried Won’t Face a Second Criminal Trial

Federal prosecutors said Friday that they wouldn’t try Sam Bankman-Fried on additional criminal charges that weren’t part of the fall trial that resulted in the FTX founder’s conviction for fraud related to the collapse of his crypto exchange.The move, announced in a letter to the presiding judge, clears the way for the FTX founder to be sentenced on March 28. Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das sought to reaffirm on Friday that the central bank’s stance on banning crypto assets remained unchanged despite a global trend towards regulating them. “On crypto, I have already spelt out our position very clearly time and again and we continue with the same view. The IMF-FSB (International Monetary Fund-Financial Stability Board) synthesis paper also points out the risks involved in crypto. Regulation is always on a scale of zero to 10. You can now buy a Ferrari with crypto in the US, if that’s your thing

Anyone sitting on a mountain of cryptocurrency can now use it to buy a Ferrari in the US. According to Reuters, the luxury carmaker is working with the crypto payment processor BitPay to accept bitcoin, ether and USDC for purchases stateside, which customers were apparently begging for. Europe is expected to get the same treatment in early 2024, with other regions to follow.There won’t be any upcharges for those paying with crypto, Ferrari’s Chief Marketing and Commercial Officer Enrico Galliera told Reuters, and BitPay will convert those payments to traditional currency at the time of the transaction to avoid any issues of volatility.
