Rishi Sunak has rejected a characterisation of the Treasury under his chancellorship as a 'pro-death squad'. The expression was attributed to Boris Johnson in a diary entry by the chief scientific adviser, Sir Patrick Vallance, but Hugo Keith KC did not say the term was used by Johnson himself when he asked Sunak about it. Sunak told the inquiry: 'I do not think it is a fair characterisation'
