EasyJet confirms order for 157 Airbus aircraft – Business Traveller

EasyJet has confirmed a firm order for 157 A320neo Family aircraft, following shareholder approval on Tuesday. The carrier will receive 56 A320neo and 101 A321neo aircraft between FY29 and FY34, the plans for which we initially reported in October. EasyJet says that this ensures it has “a supply of future delivery slots… to retain its current scale through replacing aircraft leaving the fleet” and enables the carrier to “execute its growth strategy”. An additional 100 purchase rights will also enable the airline the opportunity to further grow, depending on when they are delivered. Ascott confirms two new properties for Marrakech – Business Traveller

The Ascott Limited (Ascott) has announced two new properties to open in the Moroccan city of Marrakech. Ascott Hivernage Marrakech and The Unlimited Collection Hotel Marrakech are both slated to open by Q4 2026. The two new Morocco properties will together comprise 190 fully-furnished units. Ascott Hivernage Marrakech will have 100 units, including studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments. The property, located in the heart of Marrakech’s prestigious Hivernage district and in close proximity to the renowned 1,000-seat conference and convention centre – Palais des Congrès – will also have views of the city skyline overlooking the Atlas Mountains. Emirates confirms US$52 billion widebody aircraft order – Business Traveller

Emirates has placed an order for 95 additional widebody aircraft in a deal worth US$52 billion, taking its total order book to 295 aircraft. Announced at the Dubai Airshow 2023 on Monday, Emirates which is already the world’s largest operator of Boeing 777 aircraft, has signed firm orders for 55 additional 777-9s and 35 777-8s. It takes the airline’s 777X order book to a total of 205 units. The carrier has also updated its previous order of 30 Boeing 787-9s, increasing its commitment to a total of 35 Dreamliners comprising 15 Boeing 787-10s and 20 Boeing 787-8s. Vistara, the Indian full-service carrier and a joint venture of Tata group and Singapore Airlines (SIA), has announced daily nonstop flights between Delhi and Hong Kong, starting 29 October. The airline will operate its Airbus A321 neo aircraft featuring a three-class configuration on Delhi-Hong Kong. The flights will depart from Delhi at 2105, arriving in Hong Kong the following morning at 0555. The return flights leave Hong Kong at 0855, arriving back in Delhi ay 1310. All Nippon Airways confirms winter schedule for Europe – Business Traveller

Star Alliance member All Nippon Airways (ANA) says it has confirmed its flight schedule from Tokyo to Europe this winter. In the schedule for 29 October to 30 March, ANA will continue to serve four European gateways from Haneda, and one from Narita airport. Flights to London’s Heathrow airport from Haneda will operate daily this winter with Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, including first class. Haneda-Frankfurt will remain a double daily operation. Both flights will be operated by the 787-9 Dreamliner, including business, premium economy and economy class. Marriott confirms second property for Al Marjan Island – Business Traveller

Marjan, the master developer of freehold properties in Ras Al Khaimah, has announced the launch of a W Hotel on Al Marjan Island on the back of a collaboration between Marriott International and Dalands Holding. Slated to open in early 2027, W Al Marjan Island will not only be Marriott International’s second hospitality venture on the island, but also as W Hotel’s first property in Ras Al Khaimah. Virgin Atlantic confirms Sao Paulo launch for 13 May, 2024 – Business Traveller

Virgin Atlantic has announced the start date for its new Heathrow-Sao Paulo route, with daily flights launching on 13 May next year. The carrier announced plans for the service in June, alongside a new route to Bengaluru. It’s Virgin’s second attempt to get flights to Sao Paulo off the ground, having first announced the service in 2019, before having to delay and then ultimately abandon the launch as a result of Covid-19. Tickets for the 11 hour 55 minute route will go on sale from 6 September, with return fares starting from £686 in economy, £1,126 in Premium and £2,744 in Upper Class.
