New Hampshire Republicans Introduce 15-Day Abortion Ban

Republicans in New Hampshire filed one of the most extreme abortion bans in the country on Tuesday ― and a GOP trifecta could allow the bill to become law once the legislature starts its 2024 session next month. The bill was pre-filed in the House in September, but the full text of the abortion ban was only released Tuesday morning. The legislation “prohibits abortion, other than for a medical emergency, if the gestational age of the fetus is more than 15 days,” according to the bill text.“The 15-day abortion ban filed by Republican lawmakers is an insult to Granite Staters,” state Rep. Alexis Simpson, deputy leader for the New Hampshire House Democratic caucus, said Tuesday. “At 15 days, most women do not even know they are pregnant. We must say it like it is ― this proposal would amount ...

GOP Governor Urges Candidates To ‘Find Separation’ From Trump

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu called on Republican candidates to seek out “separation” from Donald Trump as the former president remains the party’s front-runner following the first GOP presidential debate on Wednesday. (You can check out Sununu’s remarks in the clip below.)In an interview Friday with “The Hill” on NewsNation, the Republican governor said candidates did a “great job” ignoring Trump despite his absence from the debate stage before declaring that they’ve “go to be able to take it to him.”“I don’t think they have to go nuclear like Chris [Christie] does ... but everyone in their own way has to find separation with him,” Sununu said.“And some of them are doing it; some of them aren’t. I think Nikki Haley did it pretty well, but that’s really the key: It’s not just attacking...

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) took aim at a group of hecklers in his state who were filmed targeting Mike Pence on the campaign trail for refusing to help Donald Trump overturn the 2020 election.“Angry, unhinged Trump supporters? I don’t think anyone surprised to see it,” Sununu told CNN’s Erin Burnett in an interview on Monday.“I mean, his base supporters tend to be very extreme, very angry. They’re very defensive. They’ll do anything to try to make sure that Trump just kind of is handed the nomination and doesn’t have to earn it.”“Obviously, they’re going to use Mike Pence as a punching bag,” he continued. “Mike Pence stood up for America.”As Pence was entering an event in New Hampshire on Friday, a group of Trump supporters accosted him, calling him a “traitor” and a “sellout,” a...

GOP Governor Points Out A ‘Huge Opportunity’ For Trump’s Republican Rivals

New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu highlighted a “huge opportunity” for Republican candidates on Saturday as he gave his two cents on a dip in former President Donald Trump’s polling numbers in his state. In an appearance on Fox News, Sununu argued that the “reality” that Trump won’t win the 2024 presidential election is “coming to bear” as he looked at a recent University of New Hampshire poll that showed Trump dropping 5 percentage points with likely GOP primary voters since April.“When you have an incumbent president that’s sitting under 40%, that’s a huge opportunity for everybody else,” said Sununu, who had teased a 2024 presidential bid but ultimately passed on a campaign. The governor and frequent critic of Trump noted that the poll shows “60-plus percent” of voters are not with the for...
