6 Best MagSafe Power Banks for iPhones (2024): High Capacity, Slim, Kickstands

Here’s the low-down on the MagSafe standard and MagSafe power banks. What is MagSafe?MagSafe is the name of Apple’s accessory system that’s integrated into the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone 14, and iPhone 15 range. A ring of magnets on the back of the phone (and in MagSafe-enabled cases) lets you attach various magnetic accessories, like a battery pack that recharges the iPhone wirelessly, so you don’t need to hold it or carry a cable.Does MagSafe reduce battery life? There isn’t much evidence that MagSafe charging negatively impacts battery health, but it is less efficient than wired charging and can sometimes generate heat, which may degrade your battery faster. But other factors are more important, if you want to preserve battery health (such as never fully draining your battery). What rat...

Edinburgh airport installs 40 electric vehicle chargers – Business Traveller

Edinburgh airport has installed new electric vehicle charging points across three of its car parks, as part of a Low Carbon Energy Project. A total of 40 EV chargers have been installed, including five in the airport’s FastPark valet parking option, enabling passengers to book to have their car plugged in while they are away and return to a fully charged vehicle. Another 15 22kWh chargers are now located in the Terminal Parking facility close to the multi-storey car park (with a maximum stay of 24 hours) – and finally 20 7kWh chargers have been installed in the Plane Parking facility, where there it no time limit for use. According to the airport’s official X (formerly Twitter) feed, EV charging costs £0.55 per kwh plus a £1 connection fee. The chargers are part of a wider project to red...

Hilton to install 20,000 Tesla EV chargers at 2,000 hotels – Business Traveller

Hilton has announced a new agreement with electric car manufacturer Tesla to install up to 20,000 charging points at 2,000 hotels across the US, Canada and Mexico. Work will begin in 2024 to install at least six of the Tesla Universal Wall Connectors – which can be used to charge any North American electric vehicle – at each selected location. Hilton said that the agreement would make the group’s EV charging network “the largest of any hospitality network”. It also said that it had seen a “continued growth of searches at Hilton.com for hotels with charging capability”, adding that this year “the website’s EV charging search attribute had the fastest volume of growth to-date, jumping from fourth to second highest in converting searches to stays”. Earlier this year Radisson Hotel Group out...

iOttie Aivo View Dash Cam for $150: With a sleek, compact design, the iOttie Aivo View looks the part and records video at up to 1,600p and 30 frames per second. There’s a Bluetooth remote button to trigger recordings, and it supports Alexa for voice commands, but I found the app flaky and very slow to download videos.Vantrue Element 1 Dash Cam for $150: This dinky dashcam from Vantrue records crisp video at up to 1,440p and 30 frames per second with support for HDR. It also has a park mode and built-in Wi-Fi and GPS, but I could not get the app to connect, so I had to remove the microSD card to review the footage.NextBase 222 Dash Cam for $90: This basic dashcam works reasonably well and has the same design as NextBase’s more expensive models with a color screen on the back. But it can o...

18 Best Portable Battery Chargers (2023): For Phones, iPads, Laptops, and More

There are a few things worth thinking about when you’re shopping for a portable charger.Capacity: The capacity of a power bank is measured in milliampere-hours (mAh), but this can be a little misleading because the amount of power you get out depends on the cable you use, the device you are charging, and the charging method (Qi wireless charging is less efficient). You will never get the maximum capacity. We try to provide an estimate of what you’ll get in terms of charges for devices.Charging speeds and standards: The charging rate for devices like smartphones is measured in watts (W), but most power banks list the voltage (V) and the amperage (A). Thankfully, you can calculate the wattage yourself simply by multiplying the voltage and amperage. Unfortunately, getting that maximum rate a...
