Cathay Pacific suspends Israel flights – Business Traveller

On 5 December, Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways said that it would suspend its Hong Kong-Tel Aviv route. For now, the Tel Aviv service has been cancelled through 28 March 2024. Cathay says that rebooking options for affected passengers are very limited. “In view of the uncertainty related to the ongoing situation in Israel, all Cathay Pacific flights to and from Tel Aviv from today up to and including 28th March 2024 will be cancelled. Affected customers who have not received a message from Cathay Pacific are advised to check the current status of their booking via Manage Booking,” the airline said in a media statement. “Our ticket waiver policy is in place to provide choice and flexibility. Cathay Pacific to return to Chennai and Colombo – Business Traveller

Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways will resume flights to Chennai and Colombo in February 2024. The airline last offered regular service to both cities pre-pandemic. Cathay is gradually rebuilding its network and earlier this week said that its recovery remains well on track as demand for travel holds strong across its network. Cathay recently relaunched flights to Johannesburg and noted “a very positive response” from the market. “Travel demand remained strong as we entered the second month of the traditional peak summer season in August. We continued to increase our flight frequencies to cater for the strong demand. Our newly resumed flights serving Johannesburg received a very positive response, in particular among business and leisure travellers flying to Hong Kong and beyond,” sa...

Cathay Pacific revamps business loyalty programme – Business Traveller

Cathay Pacific has revamped its corporate loyalty ‘Business Plus’ programme and travel management platform. Aimed at small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and growing businesses, Business Plus allows SMEs to manage their business travel in a self-service travel platform. The Hong Kong-based oneworld carrier says Business Plus members can now earn Asia Miles to their company Business Plus account rather than their personal accounts. Moreover, Business Plus members can use Asia Miles to redeem rewards such as Cathay frequent flyer programme silver membership, equivalent to oneworld Ruby status, as well as lounge passes which they can gift to other travellers. Asia Miles can also be transferred to any employee’s individual Cathay account for flight, hotel and lifestyle redemptions. ...

Cathay upgrades Queensland flights – Business Traveller

From 1 December, Cathay Pacific will increase its services to Brisbane from four flights per week to six weekly. The oneworld airline also will upgrade the route to the higher-capacity Boeing 777-300ER from the Airbus A350. Exporters in Queensland have been desperate to have capacity to Hong Kong restored, Brisbane airport says. “This week 41 years ago we celebrated the arrival of the very first Cathay Pacific 747 to Brisbane. And today we celebrate the expansion of this service as we slowly build back to full pre-Covid recovery. Make no mistake, the link between Brisbane and Hong Kong is one of the region’s most critical for Queensland exports, and this will deliver money into the pockets of rural producers across the state, as well as local seafood companies, and of course tourism ...

Cathay Pacific will hand out ‘special appreciation’ staff bonus – Business Traveller

Hong Kong’s Cathay Pacific Airways will reward employees for their support during the pandemic years. In the September payroll, eligible employees will get up to six weeks of extra pay. “The extreme circumstances Cathay faced during the pandemic were unlike anything any other carrier experienced. We recorded losses totaling approximately HK$33.7 billion [$4.3 billion] over three years of the pandemic and the reality is that we are only part way along our journey to rebuild Cathay,” Cathay Pacific chief executive, Ronald Lam, said in a media statement on 14 July. “The COVID-19 pandemic was the most challenging period in our history, but with the tremendous support from our people, customers and other stakeholders, we are moving further and further away from those difficult days with ea...
