United launches preferred seat type waitlist feature – Business Traveller

Ever gone through the seat selection process with an airline only to find your preferred seat type is not available? United Airlines is rolling out a feature which it says will make it easier for its customers to get their desired seat type, “even if their preferred seat isn’t available during booking”. Passengers can now visit the carrier’s mobile app to request their preferred seat type, and will be automatically assigned and notified about their new seat assignment should the requested type become available. Radisson Collection Berlin to reopen with centrepiece ‘Living Tree’ – Business Traveller

The Radisson Collection Hotel Berlin is set to reopen at the end of the year, and will feature a new showpiece installation in its lobby area. So how did we get to this point? The former Radisson Blu Hotel Berlin was reflagged under the group’s Radisson Collection brand in early 2022 following a 12-month renovation programme. The 427-room property retained its centrepiece AquaDom aquarium in the hotel’s lobby, which stood 25 metres tall and housed around 1,500 fish. But early on the morning of 16 December, 2022 the aquarium – which had held the Guinness World Record as the world’s largest cylindrical aquarium – suddenly burst, pouring around a million litres of water into the hotel and the street. The hotel has remained closed since, but in a LinkedIn post Yilmaz Yildirimlar, area senior...

The new technology follows the carrier’s introduction of a new Electronic Aircraft Maintenance (eLog) system earlier this year – which replaces the old paper-based system and allows the immediate transfer of data from the aircraft to engineers, “meaning any required parts can be pre-ordered to help to resolve issues more quickly”. Commenting on the news René de Groot, chief operating officer at British Airways, said: “It’s exciting that we’ll be the first UK airline to combine the technology of both apps, which will allow us to make even better operational decisions in the moment using real-time data. “These applications represent a step-change in the quality of weather information we receive, and, in the future, will enable pilots to collaborate in real-time during a flight with operati...
