Air Canada boosts Asia-Pacific schedule – Business Traveller

Star Alliance carrier Air Canada has announced it is strategically boosting its Asia-Pacific network capacity with additional flights and larger aircraft beginning mid-December through to the end of next summer 2024. Vancouver-Hong Kong will see 11-weekly flights from 13 December to 29 February to support holiday and Lunar New Year travel, and 10-weekly flights from 1 March to 26 October. The Vancouver-Bangkok winter seasonal service will be extended, with four-weekly flights to 5 May, and daily service between 8 January and 28 February. China Airlines boosts Japan, Korea routes in schedule update – Business Traveller

China Airlines (CAL), the Taiwan flag carrier, will operate up to 180 flights a week to Japan and South Korea in the winter schedule to 30 March. Flights from Taoyuan to Tokyo (Narita) will increase to 24 weekly rotations, while flights from Taipei downtown Songshan airport to Tokyo’s Haneda will run twice a day. CAL will also maintain a daily Kaohsiung-Narita service, equating to up to 45 weekly flights and at least six daily flights to and from Tokyo. The Taoyuan-Kumamoto route launched in mid-September will increase to four weekly flights starting 3 December, while flights from Taoyuan to Fukuoka will go up to 16 flights a week from 2 January. Marriott boosts Vietnam luxury pipeline – Business Traveller

Marriott has announced the signing of deals to open three new luxury resorts in Vietnam. The signings mark the expected debut of two new brands into Vietnam – Ritz-Carlton Reserve and The Luxury Collection – on the little-known Hon Thom Island in Phu Quoc. Additionally, Marriott also announced Vietnam’s third JW Marriott Hotel, set for Trang An, the UNESCO World Heritage destination in northern Vietnam. Japan Airlines boosts Hong Kong and US routes – Business Traveller

Oneworld alliance member Japan Airlines (JAL) will increase the frequency on a number of routes from late October. The airline says this is in response to a steady increase in travel demand for both business and leisure customers to and from Japan. JAL highlights that inbound tourism has been “flourishing”, as a result of a weaker yen. From 29 October, JAL will increase Narita-Hong Kong from three to five flights a week. From the same date, Osaka-Los Angeles will go up to five-weekly, from four flights a week currently offered.
