ITA Airways to offer fully flat business class on Heathrow-Rome route – Business Traveller

ITA Airways has announced plans to temporarily serve its Rome Fiumicino-London Heathrow route with the carrier’s new A321neo. The aircraft will operate daily flights on the route between 1 December and the end of January, departing Rome at 1400 and arriving into Heathrow at 1630, before returning at 1700 and landing back into the Italian capital at 2100. ITA’s A321neo is configured in three classes, with 12 business class seats offering a fully flat bed, a further 12 premium economy seats, and 141 economy seats (12 of which are designated as Comfort Economy). Qatar Airways to increase flights to Bangkok and Amsterdam over peak winter period – Business Traveller

Qatar Airways has announced plans to increase frequencies on five routes to Europe, the US and Asia during December and January. As previously noted on our forum the carrier’s Doha-Amsterdam service will move from ten flights per week to twice daily from 16 December, while Belgrade will increase from seven to ten flights per week from 23 December, and Barcelona from 18 to 21 flights per week from 1 January, 2024. Thai Airways has partnered with silk brand Jim Thompson for its latest amenity kits for Royal Silk (business class) passengers. The bags have been created with biodegradable fabric and come in six different designs, each paired with a “velvety-soft” eye mask in a coordinating design. British Airways has launched its Black Friday promotion, with savings on flights and holiday packages. The deals are available until 27 November, and include flights to European destinations such as Barcelona, Faro, Nice, Pisa and Valencia from £39 each way. British Airways Executive Club members can now earn up to 200 tier points by spending £25,000 on the British Airways American Express Premium Plus Card. This is the first time British Airways Executive Club members have been able to earn tier points outside of flying. Previously, tier points could only be earned by flying with British Airways, its subsidiaries or its oneworld airline partners. British Airways launches new routes to Accra and Riga – Business Traveller

British Airways has inaugurated new routes to the capitals of Ghana and Latvia. The carrier is now operating three flights per week between Gatwick and Accra, with a fourth weekly service set to be added from April 2024. The route – which BA last served in the early 2000s – complements the carrier’s existing daily Heathrow-Accra flights. The new Avios earning system for BA flights recently took effect, which sees members collect between 6 and 9 Avios per qualifying £1 spent, depending on elite status. Thai Airways firms winter schedule – Business Traveller

Star Alliance founding member Thai Airways has finalised its schedule for the upcoming winter season to 30 March 2024. The Bangkok-based flag carrier will operate to 51 destinations, including double daily flights to London’s Heathrow, Frankfurt and Melbourne. Thai Airways long-haul routes with daily flights comprise Copenhagen; Stockholm; Munich; Istanbul (from 1 December); Paris; Zurich; and Sydney. The airline will deploy its Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 777-300ER aircraft on its services to Europe and Australia. Thai Airways currently operates just under 50 widebody aircraft, as well as 20 short-haul Airbus A320s. British Airways to restart Abu Dhabi service after four-year hiatus – Business Traveller

British Airways has announced plans to return to Abu Dhabi for the first time since early 2020. Daily year-round flights will restart on 20 April, 2024 operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, complementing the carrier’s service to Dubai which operates up to three-times-daily. Flight BA73 will depart Heathrow at 2225, arriving into Abu Dhabi at 0830 the following day, with the return leg BA72 leaving the UAE capital at 1010 and landing back into London at 1520. British Airways Executive Club Members booking flights from October 18, 2023 will collect Avios based on the cost of their ticket. Members will receive up to nine Avios per £1 spent on flights, as well as collecting on additional purchases such as pre-paid seat selection and upgrades.
