Sensex rebounds, up 300 pts from low; M&M slips 2%

Stock market LIVE updates: Domestic equities were on the backfoot on Friday as hawkish statement by the US Fed chair, Jerome Powell, overnight hit sentiment.

The S&P BSE Sensex, which fell almost 250 points to the day’s low at 64,581, recouped all its losses and touched a high of 64,870 in noon trades. The Sensex was flat around 64,800 level. The Nifty50, on the other hand, was seen testing the 19,400 level.

 


In the broader markets, the BSE MidCap index dropped 0.07 per cent, but the BSE Smallcap index added 0.21 per cent.

Among sectors, the Nifty Auto index was the worst hit, down 0.8 per cent. The Nifty Metal index, meanwhile, bucked the trend to rally 0.17 per cent.

Stocks in focus

ESAF SFB: ESAF Small Finance Bank (SFB) made a strong stock market debut on Friday with its shares getting listed at Rs 71.90 on the BSE, a 20 per cent premium over its issue price of Rs 60 per share. On the National Stock Exhcnage (NSE), the stock opened at Rs 71, 18 per cent higher against its issue price. READ MORE

Vodafone Idea: Shares of Vodafone Idea (Vi) hit a 22-month high of Rs 14.45, gaining 4 per cent on the BSE in Friday’s intraday trade, in an otherwise subdued market. Thus far during the eight trading days of November, the stock of the telecom services provider has rallied 22 per cent on expectation of fund infusion by its promoters and on the back of institutional buying. READ MORE
