Pro-Trump Electors in Wisconsin Acknowledge There Was an Effort to ‘Improperly Overturn’ 2020 Vote

As part of an unusual legal settlement, a group of 10 Wisconsin Republicans who tried to reverse the outcome of the 2020 presidential election by creating a false slate of electors pledged to Donald Trump have withdrawn the paperwork they sent to Congress and acknowledged that President Biden won the election.

The civil settlement, announced Wednesday by legal advocacy groups representing the plaintiffs, marks a milestone in continuing litigation around the country against pro-Trump operatives, sometimes referred to as fake electors, in battleground states including Wisconsin, Georgia and Michigan. In the settlement, a group of pro-Trump electors have for the first time formally withdrawn certificates purporting that the former president won Electoral College votes.
