Premier Inn’s owner Whitbread has acquired a development site at Usher’s Quay in the Dublin 8 district of the city.
The site has planning permission for a 100-room hotel, bringing the group’s trading and pipeline rooms in Ireland to over 1,500 rooms.
Premier Inn has been steadily growing it Dublin portfolio in recent years. The group opened its first city centre property in 2021, followed by a second in March this year.

Two further hotels are also set to be unveiled before the end of 2023 – one in the city’s Newmarket Square this autumn, and another in the North Docklands area in December.
In addition the group is set to open its first hotel in Ireland outside of Dublin in early 2024, situated at Morrisons Quay on the banks of the River Lee in Cork.
Premier Inn has previously outlined a target to reach 2,500 rooms in Dublin’s city centre, and commenting on the latest development Matt Gent, development manager for Whitbread in Ireland, said:
“Usher’s Quay is exactly the type of location we are searching for in Dublin city centre as we seek to grow Premier Inn’s presence across the city.
“It is in an excellent position for our customers in an area which has very few hotel options currently, and the existing planning permission means we can deliver the new Premier Inn hotel at pace.
“Acquiring the site gives us two fantastic locations in Dublin 8 and it takes us another step towards our goal of 2,500 Premier Inn rooms across the city.”
This week Whitbread also announced plans for its latest City of London hotel, following the acquisition of an office building next to Fenchurch Street station.
