More than 50 hotels united for Ramadan drive by Marriott’s Business Council in the UAE this year – Business Traveller

As part of its ongoing commitment to give back to the community, Marriott International Hotels in the UAE came together during Ramadan to help provide over 12,000 meals across the community. More than 50 hotels collaborated with The Giving Family, Dubai Municipality and Emirates Red Crescent on a number of initiatives, and the company also celebrated its annual Iftar for Cabs initiative in the UAE.

The initiatives were organised by Marriott’s Business Council in the UAE. Pam Wilby, chair of Marriott Business Council UAE and multi-property general manager of Grosvenor House, a Luxury Collection Hotel and Le Royal Meridien Beach Resort & Spa, said: “We are grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the well-being of our communities through our initiatives. Our initiatives during the Holy Month of Ramadan underscore our steadfast commitment to making a positive impact in the markets in which we operate.”

This year’s initiatives were carried out as part of their pledge to donate to help provide 24,000 meals in 2024.

Marriott also celebrated the 13th edition of its regional Iftar for Cabs initiative during the month, with associates from across various departments within all hotels, including Catering, Administration, and Guest Services, joining forces to bring the initiative to life. During the hour of iftar from April 3 to April 5, more than 50 of Marriott’s hotels in the UAE extended their hospitality to cab drivers by offering them meals as they passed through the main entrances of the properties. Catering teams across the hotels prepared iftar packs, which included a diverse selection of food and beverage items.

Launched in 2010, the Iftar for Cabs initiative has turned into an annual tradition for many cab drivers in the UAE that has been widely appreciated by hotel owners, local communities, and transport authorities.

The Marriott Business Council in the UAE remains dedicated to fostering a culture of giving back and community engagement and leveraging its resources and expertise to make a positive difference in the world. The Business Council’s initiatives falls under Marriott International’s Sustainability and Social Impact Platform, Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction, which guides how the company makes a positive and sustainable impact wherever it does business. From empowerment opportunities to sustainable hotel development, the platform is designed to foster business growth while balancing the needs of associates, customers, owners, the environment and communities. One of the priority areas, or “coordinates”, of Serve 360 is Nurture our World, for which Iftar for Cabs is an initiative that directly supports and helps brings this vision to life.
