PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The 14th annual “Kickin Cancer in the Knolls” lemonade stand raises money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital every summer.
The lemonade started 14 years ago at the corner of Bigelow Street and Hollyridge in Peoria’s Knolls neighborhood.
Susan Miller and her kids started it to raise money for the St. Jude Memphis to Peoria run. Three years ago, Miller passed the lemonade stand tradition to her neighbor Jen Williams and her kids.
So far they’ve raised roughly $13,000 selling their lemonade, baked goods, and friendship bracelets.
“I hope it teaches them to keep this lifelong kindness and learning to give to others and that they are so fortunate to be healthy kids and just to help others whenever that they can. Even when you’re little, like our tagline has been, you’re never too small to make a big difference,” said Williams.
Donations for the lemonade stand can be made at their website.
