LEVEL to launch Barcelona-Miami service – Business Traveller

LEVEL has announced plans for its fifth US destination, with flights to Miami launching next year.

The low-cost subsidiary of the International Airlines Group (IAG) will operate three flights per week between Barcelona and Miami International airport starting on 31 March, 2024.

The carrier will lease a sixth A330-200 aircraft to accommodate the new service, configured with 314 seats.

The new route will join LEVEL’s existing US flights to Boston, Los Angeles, New York JFK and San Francisco (seasonal).

IAG launched LEVEL in 2017, with routes initially operating from Barcelona to LA, Oakland International, Punta Cana and Buenos Aires.

At the time IAG’s then CEO Willie Walsh said that other European bases were being considered, but growth has been slow, due in part to the Covid-19 pandemic.

A short-haul spin-off was launched out of Vienna in 2018, but this closed in the summer of 2020.

Outside of the US, LEVEL currently flies to Buenos Aires and Santiago.

Commenting on the news Lucía Adrover, LEVEL’s chief commercial officer, said:

“Today is a very important day for the company since announcing the incorporation of the sixth aircraft and the new Barcelona-Miami route is a great step in LEVEL’s commitment to connecting Barcelona with distant destinations in America. We diversified our offer to offer an increasingly broad and robust product to our customers.”

The news follows the launch of Norse Atlantic services between Gatwick and Miami International this month, which will be followed by flights from Paris and Berlin to Miami in December.
