House speaker vote live updates: Jim Jordan faces possible 3rd vote today

Embattled Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) faces a possible third vote for House speaker on Thursday after falling short of a majority in the chamber on Tuesday and Wednesday. In Wednesday’s balloting, 22 Republicans voted for other candidates. Jordan can afford to lose only four GOP votes in the closely divided chamber. His struggle has prompted increasing calls from both parties to expand the powers of the interim speaker to overcome the Republican’s intraparty morass and move on with legislative matters.
