She says for dishwashing powder, you only need to use one tablespoon per load. For laundry detergent, you only need two to three.“Most people say, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m using a whole cup,” Read said. Read says you can also cut down the number of products you’re buying and save room in your house. She says for bathrooms, kitchens and other surfaces, you don’t necessarily need separate cleaners.“You can use one cleaner for your whole house and you’re saving a ton of money,” Read said.“It does save, it saves money yeah,” said Lisa Buser-Wunsch.She’s been shopping at Refill Madness for six years and gets a whole host of products there. She loads up on products for the whole family.“Lotions, hand wash, dish soap, laundry soap,” she said. “Before, I was just going to the grocery store and getting everything.”She’s also learned a little goes a long way.“They tell you this is all you have to use and you’re like, ‘Really?’ And it works,” Buser-Wunsch said. “We have kids and we want to teach them to care for the environment and that it’s important.”Read says on certain products at Refill Madness, customers can save up to 40% versus buying the products off the shelves.“We can cut out a lot of what they’re spending that they don’t need,” she said.For Read and her customers, it’s a win-win. Saving cash and saving plastic, one refill at a time.“There’s things we can do, each of us,” Buser-Wunsch said. “This is just a little something.”
