Singapore Changi airport is offering free bike hire to passengers with a layover in Singapore.
Travellers are free to use the bikes for two hours to explore attractions in the vicinity, including the Jurassic Mile and nearby beaches along Singapore’s East Coast.
Note that passengers must have at least 5.5 hours but less than 24 hours till their connecting flights. They will also need to clear immigration and have an entry visa for Singapore, if required.
The Changi Airport Connector is a 3.5km cycling and jogging path which links to Singapore’s wider park connector network, allowing visitors to experience sights such as the Bedok Jetty, the East Coast Lagoon Hawker Centre and residential neighbourhoods such as Bedok and Siglap.
Changi airport has provided four different routes, lasting from two to six hours – visitors keen to venture further afield can pay to extend the bike hire.
The bicycle return point at the airport features pay-per-use shower facilities and an al fresco cafe and bar, so you can feel refreshed before your onward journey.
Advance booking is required at changi.me/free-bicycle and on the Changi app. Bike hire takes place at the GoCycling bicycle rental facility at Hub & Spoke (next to Terminal 2).
Mr Ang Siew Min, SVP Airport Operations Development and Airport Operations Services, said:
“This initiative represents Changi’s endeavour to delight our passengers as they fly through our airport or visit Singapore. We hope our passengers could experience the tropical outdoors of our airport and its unique surrounding attractions beyond the indoor terminal offerings.”
