China Southern Airlines to launch new Budapest route – Business Traveller

Starting 27 June, China Southern Airlines will launch a four-times weekly service from Guangzhou to Budapest, the Hungarian capital airport has confirmed. The route will be operated with China Southern’s two-class Boeing 787-8 aircraft. British Airways has announced details of its latest Avios-Only flights, which will operate to Barbados and Geneva in early 2025. A total of 400 seats are now available on a flight departing Heathrow for the Caribbean island on 15 February, 2025, with the return Avios-Only service leaving a week later on 22 February. Heathrow Airport says the recently introduced Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) scheme is impacting transit figures, and is urging the government to take action “to level the playing field”. The phased roll out of the ETA scheme was launched in November for Qatari citizens, requiring travellers to apply for the digital documentation ahead of travel and pay a £10 fee. The requirement applies to passengers either travelling to or transiting through the UK. London City Airport says queue times at security have been cut by half since the installation of new CT scanners one year ago. London City became the first major airport in the UK to fully deploy next generation CT security scanners in April 2023, allowing passengers to pass through security without removing laptops and liquids from their hand luggage.
